Park Naming Results
Council reviewed input collected from residents to assist in naming the new park in Berwyn. The feedback has been shortlisted, and now residents are asked to provide the final vote to determine the park’s name from the following options: Rod and Irene Crumb Park, Berds Park, Norm Allen Park, Berwyn Community Park, Community Climbers, and The Mark Park. Residents can vote on the Village of Berwyn Facebook Page, by emailing cao@berwyn.ca, or by calling the Village office at 780-338-3922 with your preferred name. The new park was made possible by funding from an Alberta Government Grant.

Fallen Soldiers Memorial Plaques
Council reviewed feedback from residents who identified soldiers from the Berwyn area from a listing provided by the Fallen Soldiers of Alberta. Council approved allocating $300 for plaques for each of the five individuals identified.

Victim Services Funding Request
Council approved $300 in funding for Peace Regional Victim Services, acknowledging the vital support they provide to residents in need during difficult times.

Council Welcomes Jatin Saini
Council welcomed Jatin Saini to the Village of Berwyn as Finance Clerk. Jatin is replacing Greta Vasadi, whose official last day with the Village was June 26, 2024. Council extends appreciation to Greta for her service and contributions to the Village of Berwyn and wishes her well as she relocates to Africa.

Cheque Signing Authority
Council approved the appointment of Jatin Saini as a signing authority for the Village of Berwyn and that Greta Vasadi, former Finance Clerk’s authority be removed.

CAO report
The Village of Berwyn CAO, Matthew Norburn, provided Council with an update on day-to-day operations and the progress of several key projects. He reported on the Mainstreet construction, the Mainstreet community celebration scheduled for August 24, the Berwyn Chamber Business Mixer event, and the Iwantwireless upgrade, which will offer fiber-like internet speeds to Berwyn residents.

FCSS Update
Council reviewed a report from Tracy Halerwich, the Director of Grimshaw Community Services, detailing the events and programs organized, supported, and hosted by the department in Berwyn and the surrounding region. Council expressed their gratitude to Grimshaw Community Services for their dedication and effort in delivering a wide range of programs to the Village of Berwyn and the broader community. They acknowledged the positive feedback received from residents and appreciated the variety of activities offered in Berwyn.

Council Meeting Schedule
Council moved that the Village of Berwyn reduce the number of meetings to one per month during the months of July, August, and December 2024. Village of Berwyn Council Meetings will be held on July 25, August  22 and December 19, 2024.

New Signs and Speed Bumps
Council approved purchasing one additional stop sign, two additional speed bumps and two warning signs to enhance road safety in the Village of Berwyn.

ATCO Franchise Agreement
First reading of Bylaw No 713 regarding a new 10-year agreement with ATCO.
