Please see the council meeting highlights from the Town of Grimshaw Council meeting held last night (June 12/24):

Councillor Resignations
Council regretfully accepted resignation letters from Councillor Phillip Jacobs and Councillor Christina Bissell. Council extends appreciation to Councillor Jacobs and Councillor Bissell for their service and dedication to the Town Council. Administration was directed to proceed with a by-election for the two vacant town councillor positions. Nomination and Election Day information will be shared with the Town Council at the June 26, 2024, meeting and the public soon after. 

Summer 2024 Council Meeting Schedule
Council voted to hold one meeting per month for July and August, which will be held on July 24 and August 28, 2024. The July 10 and August 14, 2024, meeting dates have been cancelled.

2024 Paving Contract
Council reviewed tenders submitted for 2024 paving work and awarded the contract to Ruel Concrete for $685,819.32.

Water Operator Agreement Termination
Council accepted a request from the MD of Peace 135 to terminate the current water operator contract between the Town of Grimshaw and the MD, effective June 30, 2024.

Handrails for Multiplex Bleachers
Council approved a quote for $12,500.00 from Ace Machining and Welding for bleacher handrails at the Mile Zero Regional Multiplex.

Policy Review – Procedures and Committees Bylaw 1116
Administration presented Procedures and Committees Bylaw 1116 for Council’s review. Council will provide their proposed feedback on the bylaw by Friday, June 21, 2024, and will review it in further detail at a September 2024 Council meeting.

Energy Committee Meeting
Council moved that Mayor Wendy Wald attend the June 14, 2024 meeting to communicate the Town of Grimshaw’s position regarding the Terms of Reference for the Regional Energy Committee. 

Local Government Fiscal Framework Capital and Operating Program Agreement
Council moved to enter into the Local Government Fiscal Framework (LGFF) Capital & Operating Program Agreements. Signing these agreements releases the Town’s LGFF Capital and Operating funds for 2024.

Water and Wastewater Management Services
Council approved an agreement with New Water Ltd. to provide water and wastewater management services for the Town and the Village of Berwyn effective July 1, 2024.
