Honey Production down this year, because of wasps (Dennis Simoneau)

In parts, there was optimism, but 2024 was kind of a tough year in Honey production in the Peace Country.

The up-and-down weather during the Spring and Summer did not help as beekeepers relied of Comb honey for the latter half of the summer to get the little production they had.

Add to that, the influx of wasps during the summer that brought production numbers down.

Wasps are considered as scavengers, and bee experts were saying that the weather was just right in 2024 to have them limit yield on the honey combs and boxes.

Bee keepers are hoping that that a mild winter and good weather in 2025 can produce more nector, thus producing more honey for product.

A Honey producer in the Hamlet of Marie Reine, is Dennis Simoneau.
