  1. The Provincial Government is researching into the use of cellphones in schools by students.
    Some inquiries include concerns about student-use, the benefits of potential restrictions, and the development of possible province-wide restrictions and policies.
  2. Two students in the Northland School Division are being recognized with Honouring Spirit Indigenous Student Award.
    One recipient is Rodney Lalonde, a Grade 6 student at Hillview School on the East Prairie Metis Settlement.
  3. Students, staff, and supports are being honoured this week with Education week in the Peace Region.

  4. The Canadian Association of University Teachers is calling on Alberta to either change a proposed gatekeeping bill or scrap it altogether.
    The bill would give the province the right to veto federal agreements with provincial bodies, including post-secondary schools.
  5. Health minister Adriana LaGrange says the province has “a bit of strain” in neonatal intensive care unit capacity, but there are beds available across the province.
    This after doctors released a letter raising concern vulnerable babies are at risk in units that have been too full and had staff stretched too thin.
  6. Guitar legend Dickey Betts, who co-founded the Allman Brothers Band and wrote their biggest hit, “Ramblin’ Man,” has died. He was 80.
    Betts had been battling cancer for more than a year and had chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
  7. Golf Courses around the region are beginning to open up for the season.
    Heart River in Nampa will have their course and driving range opening up tomorrow. High Prairie is targeting Saturday to open. Mighty Peace in Peace River, and Fairview have their driving ranges currently open.
  8. The final night of the regular season happens tonight in the NHL with six games on the schedule…
    The big ones are Anaheim in Vegas, and Chicago in LA as those two spots are left to determine.
    The others are Edmonton in Colorado, San Jose in Calgary, Vancouver in Winnipeg, and Seattle in Minnisota.
  9. The Toronto Blue Jays have a travel day today to the West Coast. The Jays play three in San Diego, starting tomorrow.
  10. Sunshine and temps getting warmer heading into the weekend is in store for Northwestern Alberta.
    Digits will be cool today, but will hit two numbers by the weekend. Numbers could even push 20 degrees by Tuesday.
