  1. EARTH DAY TODAY!!!
  2. Peace Regional police are investigating the discovery of a body on the grounds of TA Norris Middle School on Saturday.
    Initial reports indicate the death is non-criminal, and there is no danger to the public. Police also say the calls are, in no way, linked to the school.
  3. Peace Regional RCMP are looking for a missing person.
    Officers say that 69-year-old William Reid Glenn, who has dementia, wandered away from his care facility in Peace River at around 6:45 pm last night.
  4. The dry conditions are sparking a number of fires in the area. The latest being in Clairmont, where fire crews had to put out a brush fire on Saturday.
    Another is a fire near Canyon Creek, west of Slave Lake. Part of Highway 2 has been shut down, while crews respond.
    Fire Restrictions and/or bans are in place all over the Northwest right now.
  5. Today is the last day to gather signatures in the petition filed against three members of High Prairie Town Council.
    Mayor Brian Panasiuk, and Councillors Donna Deynaka and James Waikle had recall petitions filed against them back in February.
  6. Town Councils meet tonight… In Peace River, Discussions are being brought forward regarding a possible Nuclear Powerplant in the region.
    High Level makes decisions on their Fees Bylaw and the Final Operating Budget. The town of Valleyview is also scheduled to meet tonight.
  7. The County of Northern Lights has a new CAO.
    Gerhard Stickling will step into the role after Theresa Van Oort announced her retirement earlier this year.
  8. The Wheatbelt Baseball League is running a 12-game regular season for a seven-team league this year, with the newest team being the Sexsmith Rainers.
    Games get underway just prior to the May-long weekend.
  9. Peace River Peewee Football has released their schedule for the upcoming Spring season.
    The Panthers will play five games at home this year, beginning on Saturday May 4th versus the Little Rocks from Sexsmith.
  10. NHL Playoffs tonight… Game 1 – LA is at Edmonton, and Las Vegas is in Dallas. Game 2 – Toronto is in Boston, and the Islanders are in Carolina. The Hurricanes and the Bruins took the opening game.
  11. The Toronto Blue Jays open a four-game set in Kansas City tonight. Yusei Kikuchi starts for the Jays against Brady Singer.
  12. Sunshine with temps in the high teens are scheduled for the first half of this week in the Northwest. Lows tonight, and for the next few nights will be around freezing.
    We might see some rain, especially in the Mackenzie on Wednesday night, heading into Thursday.
