  1. An update in John D’or Prairie… The Shelter in Place has been lifted.
    Police were called to a high-risk situation earlier this morning, and were asking residents to lock doors, stay inside, and follow directions from officers.
    At this time, one person has been arrested and is in custody. Updates are forthcoming…
  2. The fire at Shaftesbury in Peace River continues to burn, but authorities are classifying it as “Being Held”.
    ATCO Elctric is currently working on restoring power to residents in the area, as power was shut off during the height of the Evacuation.
    Officials are still asking the public to stay away from working areas, and to keep the drones on the ground.
  3. Manning’s first Type B Continuing Care Home is set to open at the Del-Air Lodge.
    Sixteen spaces are expected to be available in the early summer.
  4. West Fraser Lumber is selling a couple of mills including in Quesnel BC and in Slave Lake. They are being sold to an affiliate managed by Atlas Holdings.
    West Fraser says the sale will be complete when a review is completed and closing conditions are met.
  5. The Alberta government says it will pay nurse practitioners 80% of what family doctors are paid – if they want to practice comprehensive primary care.
    The program, announced in November, will allow practitioners to operate their own publicly-funded practices, whether in stand-alone or existing primary care clinics.
  6. Bob Cole passed away last night in St John’s Newfoundland, surrounded by family, at age 90.
    He spent over 50 years at Hockey Night in Canada, with his last game being in 2019 between Toronto and Montreal.
  7. The North Peace Navigators of the NWJHL have signed defenceman Tyse Massier to play in Peace River next hockey season.
    Massier was the captain of the U18 Peace River Royals this past season.
  8. NHL Playoffs tonight… Game 3, Florida is at Tampa Bay, the Panthers lead 2-0. Game 3 Carolina is at the Islanders, The Hurricanes are up 2-0.
  9. The Toronto Blue Jays play the final game of their four-game set in Kansas City this afternoon. Jose Berrios starts for the Jays against Cole Ragans.
  10. Showers may fall this afternoon in the Peace and Big Lakes, rain is falling in the Mackenzie, and will do so for the rest of the day.
    Highs are varied today, with only 6 degrees in Mackenzie, and in the Low teens in the Peace and Big Lakes.
