  1. Hooray, Hooray, it’s the first of May!
  2. A temporary reprieve has been found at the Emergency Department at the Fairview Health Complex.
    Doctor coverage has been found for today, but no doc is on-site from tomorrow until next Tuesday.
  3. Superintendent Mike McMann of the Fort Vermilion School Division has been honoured with the Dyslexia Canada Educational Excellence Award for 2024.
    He was awarded for his work in literacy and in supporting students with dyslexia from the national organization.
  4. The New Ecole des Quatre-Vents has the grand celebration happening on Friday, and administration is happy the new school is in operation.

  5. The Alberta government has committed $10 million to sexual-assault centres across the province.
    Fifteen centres, including one in Grande Prairie, will receive a share of the funding between now and 2027
  6. The Government of Alberta has launched an online survey to gather feedback on auto insurance in the province.
    The Government says rates have been increasing across Canada, with repair costs, parts shortages, vehicle theft, and higher personal injury, with legal costs all contributing.
  7. Crown corporation Trans Mountain Corp. says as of Wednesday, the expanded pipeline from Alberta to the B.C. coast will be transporting crude oil.
    The project involved twinning an existing pipeline that runs from Alberta to the B.C. coast.
  8. The North Peace Navigators of the NWJHL have signed Defenceman Camden McNaughton to play in Peace River next season.
    McNaughton had 31 points in 23 games for the U-18 Peace River Royals last year.
  9. NHL Playoffs tonight… Game 5 LA is in Edmonton, the Oilers lead 3-1. Vegas is in Dallas, the series is tied 2-2.
  10. The Toronto Blue Jays conclude their three-game set at home to Kansas City this afternoon. Chris Bassitt starts for the Jays against Seth Lugo.
  11. Skies will begin to clear off today in the Northwest, if they haven’t already. Temps will hover just above 10 degrees today, with lows tonight still around the freezing mark.
    Numbers will get higher into this weekend, and possibly hitting 20 by Monday.
