  1. Fort Vermilion RCMP officers were busy early this morning dealing with a firearm-related complaint in Fox Lake.
    Officers issued a shelter in place for residents, which was lifted just after 3:00 this morning.
  2. Council meetings are happening this morning.
    Birch Hills County has a delegation from the Rycroft Community Library, plus a public hearing on a road closure.
    Clear Hills County decides upon a meeting request with the Village of Hines Creek, and the tender awards of turnout gear from the Fire Department of Hines Creek and Worsley.
    The County of Northern Lights has a public hearing also on a road closure, and a report on Water Conservation in the area from Public Works.
    The MD of Fairview has a delegation from Betty Turpin of the Holy Family Catholic Regional Division.
    The MD of Peace decides on agreements of funding and fire services with the Village of Berwyn.
    The MD of Greenview also met this morning.
  3. The Provincial Government has put aside $3.2 million dollars for grants of local projects driving innovation and growth in rural and remote Alberta.
    Money being received include to The La Crete Chamber, Community Futures Lesser Slave Lake, The Dene Tha First Nation, and The Village of Hines Creek, Northern Sunrise County, and Mackenzie County.
  4. Four people have been charged in connection with a theft case totalling about $3.1 million in the Camrose area.
    The charges signal the end of Operation Elephant, a three-year investigation into stolen equipment, as well as vehicles.
  5. Former premier Alison Redford is back working for the Alberta government.
    She was appointed a member of Invest Alberta Corporation’s board of directors on Thursday by an order in council by Premier Danielle Smith.

    Prosecutors argued the president’s son lied on a mandatory gun-purchase form by saying he was not illegally using or addicted to drugs.

  9. Albertans may be watching every second of the Stanley Cup final but most Canadians are not, according to a recent survey.
    The poll found that 58% of Canadians are not paying close attention to the NHL final between the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers.
  10. Former Edmonton Oiler Esa Tikkannen is putting some of his Stanley Cup rings up for auction.
    The 59-year-old from Finland won four Stanley Cups with Edmonton, and another with the Rangers.
    Tikkanen has put three of his four Oilers championship rings up for sale, as well as his New York ring.
  11. The rain starts up again later this afternoon and will last until tomorrow in the Mackenzie, and until Thursday in the Peace and Big Lakes.
    Temps are in the high teens today, around 10 tonight, and only in the mid teens tomorrow. It will clear off on Friday, but start raining again on Saturday.
