  1. The MD of Peace is wanting answers to the proposed funding cuts to school boards and students in the region.
    Council has moved that a letter be written to Premier Danielle Smith, and Education Minister Demetrios Nicolaides with concerns to the cuts.
  2. Town Council in Grimshaw will need two seats to fill later this year. Councillors Phillip Jacobs, and Christina Bissell have announced their resignations.
    Administration will announce Nomination Day and By-election day at their next meeting on June 26th.
  3. The Provincial Government is committing $125,000 to the improvements to the Ambulance Bay at the Northwest Health Center in High Level.
    The money is part of the $4.5 billion dollars being invested into health facilities in the Province.
  4. $236 million dollars have been given from the provincial government for 125 transportation, and water infrastructure projects, including several in the Northwest.
    The biggest projects are nearly $5 million dollars to replace and rebuild the bridge on the East Prairie Metis Settlement, and the nearly $23 million dollar regional water project in Saddle Hills County.
  5. The new Splash Park in Grimshaw is now open with lots of kids taking advantage of the facility, despite the cool weather.

  6. Lemonade Day is happening this weekend with stands popping up around Peace River and Fairview.
    With the help of Community Futures, kids are learning about how small business operates and is handled in the area. (Dani Weardon Interview on App)
  7. The annual Honey Festival is taking place this weekend in Falher with lots of events happening during the occasion.
    Shows like the midway, Baseball and volleyball tournaments, a pancake breakfast and a parade are featured. (Tatum Small interview on App)
  8. The Semi-finals of the Mighty Peace Basketball Leagues happens on Sunday at Mile Zero in Grimshaw. The Warriors play Wavelength and the Ol’ Fellas play Peace River Chrysler.
  9. Weather permitting, games in the Wheatbelt Baseball League this weekend has Grande Prairie in Manning on Saturday, and High Prairie in Manning on Sunday.
  10. Week 2 of the CFL season continues tonight. Montreal is in Edmonton. Calgary is in BC tomorrow, and Saskatchewan is in Hamilton on Sunday.
  11. Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final goes tomorrow night with Florida in Edmonton. The Panthers lead 3-0.
  12. The Toronto Blue Jays start a three-game series at home tonight against Cleveland. Kevin Gausman starts for the Jays against Logan Allen.
  13. Game 4 of the NBA final goes tonight. Boston is in Dallas. The Celtics lead 3-0.
  14. The 2024 European Soccer Championships start today. The host Germans take on Scotland.
  15. Rain is the order of the beginning of the weekend, especially in the Peace, where a Rainfall Warning ids in effect.
    As much as 50 mm of rain is expected in the Peace before tomorrow evening, and about 15 mm is forecasted in the Big Lakes before Saturday morning.
