  1. The Evacuation Alert is still in place in Zama City. The 2-hour Alert was given on Friday, due to a wildfire, just southwest of the Hamlet.
    The 3,400-hectare blaze is being helped by Mother Nature as winds are expected from the north today, possibly keeping the fire at bay.
  2. Town Councils meet tonight… In Peace River, presentations are made for Grants to the Peace River Boating Association, The Peace Country Rugby Club and Glen Mary School.
    In High Level, decisions are being made on the Tax Relief Policy, and the request to meet with Provincial Municipal Affairs Minister Ric McIver in September.
    The town of Valleyview also meets tonight.
  3. While people in Fairview are waiting for new doctors to come to town, shortages are continuing at the Health Complex Emergency Department.
    There will be three days this week, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, where the emergency department won’t have a doctor on site.
  4. The NDP Critic for Municipal Affairs says better communication is needed between the provincial government and the people of Alberta.
    Kyle Kasawski says a provincial police force and the power to change local bylaws are just some things the UCP is doing that they didn’t campaign on. (Interview on App)
  5. Former Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi is the new leader of the NDP party after receiving 86% of the vote on the first ballot.
    Nenshi beat out three sitting MLAs — Kathleen Ganley, Sarah Hoffman and Jodi Calahoo Stonehouse — to replace outgoing leader Rachel Notley.
  6. Wheatbelt Baseball League tonight, weather permitting… Rycroft is in High Prairie.
  7. The Toronto Blue Jays start a three-game set tonight at Fenway in Boston.
  8. and Hockey season FINALLY ends tonight… Game 7 of the Stanley Cup final goes tonight, Edmonton is in Florida.
  9. Showers are the order of the afternoon, and into this evening in the Northwest. Highs will be in the upper teens today, with lows around 10 tonight.
    The sunshine comes back tomorrow, and the warm temperatures coming in by the long weekend.
