  1. The Evacuation notice for Zama City has been lifted. The fire is now classified as “being held”.
    Crews have started removing the structual protections and will continue doing so over the next few days.
  2. The Paskwa Fire in Fox Lake has now been classified as extinguished. Now, clean-up, repairs and re-builds are continuing in the area.
    Officials are crediting the teamwork of Alberta Wildfire and the Little Red River Cree Nation, for the successful taming of the blaze. The fire was declared OUT, as of June 10.
  3. The Town of High Level has received Grant money for Wildfire recovery efforts. $65,000 is coming from the Northwest Alberta Foundation, covering costs of the town’s emergency Sleeping Project.
    The money recoups costs for sea cans, plus other storage accessories for a foundation to create a facility for basic accomodation for evacuees.
  4. Reactions to donations made to the Ignite Youth Center in Fairview are coming in, and officials are pleased.
    The latest gift was $7,000 earlier this week by the Telus Friendly Future Foundation. (Pamela MacKay Interview on App)
  5. School is in the books for 2024, and families are thinking about getting away to relax.

  6. Wheatbelt Baseball League tonight… High Prairie is in Grimshaw.
  7. The Toronto Blue Jays start a four-game long weekend set at home against the Yankees tonight. Jose Berrios starts for the Jays against Carlos Rodon.
  8. Week 4 of the CFL season begins tonight. Edmonton is in BC. Montreal is in Toronto tomorrow, Winnip-eg is in Calgary on Saturday, and Hamilton is in Ottawa on Sunday.
  9. Ken Holland is out as Edmonton Oilers president of hockey operations and general manager. He joined the Oilers in May 2019 and his contract ends this Sunday.
  10. A mixed bag of weather is in store for this afternoon in Northwest Alberta. Sunshine and plesant temperatures in the low to mid 20’s are there for the Peace and Mackenzie, while the Big Lakes gets rain.
    Skies will clear off tonight with lows around 10. A good long weekend in on the radar, but the rain, and cooler numbers, could come back on Monday.
