  1. Emergency crews had to respond to a tragic incident yesterday at a Canada Day parade in La Crete.
    A 45-year-old male who was a part of the parade, fell off the equipment he was throwing candy from, and sustained fatal injuries.
  2. Fort Vermilion RCMP are looking for a missing person.
    Officers says that 46-year-old Sandra Metsikassus was last seen at around 6 PM last night at the Buttertown Campground near the Peace River bridge.
  3. The Kleskin Creek Fire, near Teepee Creek is now out.
    The fire started in early May, and covered nearly 1,300 hectares, extending in the MD of Greenview, east of the Smoky River.
  4. Renauld White, an actor and trailblazing model has died. He was 80.
    White has a few credits including his two-year stint on “The Guiding Light,” “General Hospital” and “One Life to Live.”
  5. In a moment that brought some to tears, a U.S. bride released more than a dozen butterflies in honour of her late father.
    Instead of flying away as expected, the butterflies stuck close — landing all over the bride’s wedding dress and her bouquet of flowers.

  8. Rain might be the order of the next couple of days in the Northwest. Add Air Quality issues in the Peace and Mackenzie, plus a dash of muginess in the Mackenzie with temps in the mid 20’s this afternoon.
    The Peace and Big Lakes are around 20 this afternoon, with lows tonight in the low to mid teens. Sunshine and summer conditions return for the weekend.
