  1. Investigations continue into a fatal two-vehicle collision on the Swan Hills Highway, south of Kinuso.
    Police in High Prairie, Faust, and the Lakeshore Regional Police attended the accident on Saturday afternoon on Highway 33. Three people were killed at the scene, while one was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
  2. The pool is open this summer, but the slide and hot tub won’t be, until next year.

  3. The Rural Municipalities of Alberta is pushing the government to stop the transition to a provincially-run victim services model.
    The current system relies on local boards with paid and volunteer staff that help people who are victims of crime through the court system.
    Possible cuts and centralization may be happening in the fall, especially to local VSU’s in the Northwest.
  4. The publicly funded society that provides independent legal aid for low-income Albertans says its contract has expired, and the government has decided not to renew it.
    Legal Aid Alberta says it has been negotiating a new agreement with the Ministry of Justice and the Law Society of Alberta for several months.
  5. Eleven clean energy projects, most of which are based in Alberta, have been selected to receive a total of $11 million in federal funding.
    Of the funding, $2.5 million will go to small modular nuclear reactor research at the University of Alberta and University of Regina.
    The remaining $8.5 million will be divided between seven Alberta companies doing work in the area of clean hydrogen development.
  6. WestJet passengers faced more flight disruptions despite a deal reached over the weekend to end a strike by its mechanics.
    Some 680 members of the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association had walked off the job Friday evening, despite a directive for binding arbitration.

  8. The Toronto Blue Jays continue their series at home against Houston tonight. Yusei Kikuchi starts for the Jays against Ronel Blanco, who no-hit the Jays back in April.
  9. Showers and Smoke are forecasted for the Peace and Mackenzie this afternoon. Temps are in the low to mid 20’s.
    Meanwhile in the Big Lakes, you’ll see rain with numbers in the high teens today. Skies will clear off and digits will get higher, in time for the weekend.
