  1. Alberta transportation is currently targeting the fall of 2025 for the completing the rehabilitation on the original Peace River Bridge.
    To ensure this work can be safely completed, the department will be retendering part of the rehabilitation to secure more specialized expertise.
  2. The Rural Municipalities of Alberta says with the condition of older infrastructure, like the Peace River Bridge and the Dunvegan Bridge south of Fairview, the mprovince’s Infrastructure deficit is pegged at $2.3 Billion Dollars.
    The Peace River and Dunvegan bridges, as well as the new La Crete Bridge, are on the radar for upgrades and construction.
  3. The Village of Berwyn is proceeding with Stop Sign and Speed Bump project. Council has directed administration to allow the installation of bases for speed bumps.
    They are also allowed to purchase two additional Stop Signs to convert the two-way stop at Glenmeyer Park to a four-way stop.
  4. Barb and Gord Drummond run the operations of Tim Hortons in Peace River, High Prairie, Valleyview and Fairview.
    They were recently honoured with a Lifetime Community Builder Award by the restaurant. (Interview on App)
  5. The Town of High Prairie has a new interim CAO. Hermann Minderlein has been appointed to the position, as of last Thursday.
    Minderlein has held numerous positions in various municipalities, including in High Prairie over the past two decades.
  6. Alberta’s premier announced a plan that the government will boost money being spent on new school construction over the next three years to $8.6 billion.
    That’s an increase of $6.5 billion from what was originally promised in the 2024 budget.

    Coolest day of the stretch will be Friday in the Big Lakes and Saturday in the Peace and Mackenzie.
