  2. The countdown is on for Municipal officials to be meeting with provincial reps regarding doctor shortages, ED closures and a new CT Scanner at the Fairview Health Complex.
    The Emergency Department has had numerous timeframes with no doctor on-site, including three more extended physician disruptions this weekend and next week.
  3. The Peace River School Division has officially launched the North Peace Commercial Driving Academy, a school to train truck drivers.

  4. Today is the last day to register for the Peace River Job Fair.
    Space is still available by applying at the Economic Development Committee’s website or social media pages. The Peace River Job Fair is Wednesday at Riverdrive Mall downtown.
  5. Transport Canada has issued a recall for 38,000 General Motors (GM) vehicles for safety risks related to a software glitch.
    The glitch, said to affect 2023 and 2024 editions of popular Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC-branded models, involves the warning lamps that indicate low brake fluid.

  7. The Grande Prairie Storm play two at home this weekend, tonight and tomorrow against Olds.
  8. Local Football this weekend…Peace River plays in Whitecourt this afternoon in Senior high school action.
    The Grande Prairie Norsemen play in Peace River in Bantam action tomorrow. Kick-off is 1pm at Glenmary School.
  9. Week 16 of the CFL season begins tonight with Hamilton is Toronto and Saskatchewan in Calgary. Montreal is in Ottawa and Winnipeg is in Edmonton tomorrow.
  10. The Toronto Blue Jays start a three-game weekend set in Tampa Bay tonight. Jose Berrios starts for the Jays against Tyler Alexander.
  11. Chance of showers is forecasted for the Northwest today and tonight. Highs are cool this afternoon, in the low to mid teens, with lows tonight below zero in the Peace and near zero in the Big Lakes and Mackenzie.
    Conditions remain pleasent, but cool until the start of next week.
